NEW YORK (AP) ? A Republican strategist has filed a challenge to Democrat Eliot Spitzer's petitions for the city comptroller's race.
E. O'Brien Murray says he has reviewed Spitzer's petitions and found errors.
He filed the objection late Monday, just ahead of a deadline. He has a week to file specific objections.
The Spitzer campaign says it has "no worries" about its petitions.
The campaign says it took great care with them, and filed far more signatures than the law required.
Murray helped elect Republican Bob Turner to Congress. He also helped Democrat Simcha Felder win election to the state Senate.
