Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels is a finalist for the job of Purdue University president, with a decision expected this week, according to published news reports.
The school?s board of trustees is scheduled to vote Thursday on one particular candidate, Daniels, reports WISH-TV in West Lafayette, Ind.
The governor?s office declined Tuesday to comment. However, the TV station said based on sources connected to the school and Daniels, ?it's a done deal.?
Daniels -- a Republican who is serving out the final months of his second, four-year term -- has been mentioned as a vice presidential candidate for Mitt Romney.
Daniels has already been president of the Hudson Institute and vice president of Eli Lilly and Co. He also served as a Reagan administration political director and Bush administration budget chief.
The 63-year-old Daniels is likely to complete his term as governor, while Purdue appoints an interim president, reports WISH-TV.
